Happy New Year, everybody!
With the dawn of 2007, I have finally decided on the passage of Scripture I will be focusing on for my 35th year of life (as first mentioned here).
My focus this year will be on contentment and the verse I've chosen is Psalm 23:1, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Simple, huh? Not really, for me, but I know He will be faithful to teach me. The word picture of a shepherd guiding and providing for his flock is very powerful, I think. Some other passages I looked up as I was thinking about this topic are:
"But godliness with contentment is great gain." I Timothy 6:6
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1
"And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

Bob,
What a great choice!! I guess all those years of sheep duty really count for something important.
This brought back the memory of the cold, snowy February that I slept in the barn in the stall with Queenie for two weeks in order to be present when she delivered her lambs. I learned so much about the constant presence of God to meet my needs.
Of course, there is also that overnight in Dunn, North Carolina. Or, we could consider the amazing trip to Boston with Martha and God's providence.
There is never a reason to want. He has it covered.
Love
Mom
Best wishes to you in your 35th year. I can hardly even remember...
Oh, Mom...
Don't even mention Dunn, NC! Although I don't actually remember most of it. Thankfully, I've never been that sick since then!
Actually, Julia, I was thinking it's my 36th year of life total, but I'm not ready to say that yet. I'm sure you remember...Christmases with scooters and pink stuff?
OH my Bob you are an inspiration to me! I love you! (and thanks for the inspiration to do my own blog, although it's not nearly as cool as yours) I love your verse. In fact, I sent the one you gave me today (God's lovingkindness one)to a friend who could really use it. It made her day as you made mine. I think each day truly is a gift and I re-read the story of you taking the girls to the potty. How very precious and TRUE that story is! God really does give us all we need. I shall not want...whoah. Your mom inspires me too. That story of the barn and Queenie! What a great verse and what a great mom and wow! I gotta go back to cleaning now... I don't want anything at the moment, just clean bathrooms. ;)

Hey, Pol,
I love getting your comments, no matter how many times you send them! I just have the settings to where I view the comments after they come in and then I publish them. I was away from the blog for a couple days, so I didn't publish until just tonight.
Thanks for all your encouragement. It's just awesome how God's Word provides what we need, isn't it?!
Great choice!
Was it difficult to pin down on just one? I would! Most probably I'd end up choosing the entire book and that will be Psalms :)
